David Groverman
Chairman, Maccabi USA Wrestling

David Groverman is a Philadelphia-based entrepreneur, commercial real estate developer, and internationally recognized wrestler and coach. He is notably the Wrestling Chairman for the 2026 Maccabiah Games in Israel. David grew up in Havertown and attended The Haverford School where he lettered in soccer, lacrosse and wrestling. Haverford’s wrestling team won the InterAcademic Championship for three consecutive years, 1968-70. Groverman attended the University of Pennsylvania where he competed for the Quakers all four years (1970-74) and captained the team in 1974. He was an NCAA tournament qualifer. Groverman participated in four Maccabiah Games in Israel: In 1973, he won a Gold Medal in Greco-Roman at 57 kg and a silver in 1977 and served as the coach in 1977 and 1981 wrestling teams.

Beyond his many athletic achievements, David Groverman takes the greatest pride in helping organize the first Philadelphia Youth Maccabiah team to compete in the inaugural North American Maccabiah Games. In 1984, Philadelphia sent approximately 50 to 60 young athletes to Detroit for those first Games; today, that number has grown to nearly 200 teens participating annually in the JCC Maccabi Games. He currently serves as Wrestling Chairman for the 2026 Maccabiah Games— a position he also held in 2022—where he oversees fundraising and organizational efforts for American wrestlers.
"This ain't just about sport—it's about rekindling the Jewish fighting spirit. We're not just book smart—we're tough, we're strong, and we know how to hold our own."
