In Memoriam

יהי זכרם לברכה

Maccabi USA wrestling maintains an in memoriam page to honor beloved athletes, coaches, and leaders who passed away. It serves as a tribute to their legacies, celebrates their contributions to the Jewish sports community, and helps raise funds for ongoing wrestling initiatives. Maccabi USA Wrestling honors three prominent figures in the USA Maccabi wrestling family:

  • Chris Feder: A longtime USA Maccabi head coach, active USA Wrestling leader, and passionate advocate for Jewish wrestlers worldwide. Following his death in 2020, Maccabi USA established a memorial fund in his honor to carry on his legacy and support ongoing wrestling initiatives.

  • Lindsey Durlacher: A highly decorated Greco-Roman world bronze medalist and 7-time Maccabiah champion who served as the U.S. flagbearer in 2009. Following his unexpected passing in 2011, a memorial endowment fund was established in his name to support the USA Maccabi wrestling team and local youth athletes.

  • Henry Wittenberg (1918–2010) as one of the most legendary Jewish wrestlers in American history. His legacy is built on a career of nearly unmatched dominance, service as a New York City police officer, and deep commitment to coaching future generations of Jewish wrestlers at Yeshiva University.

The in memoriam page ensures that the passion, leadership, and athletic achievements of these key individuals continue to inspire future generations of athletes.
